Virginia is a little bit country and a little bit city for me. I have to say, I’ve enjoyed both! I’m a Jersey boy, but my wife Julie was from Wisconsin, inspiring our original choice of country living. We moved from New Jersey to Virginia’s Franklin County where we ran a sheep and beekeeping farm for a number of years. One day, we arrived too early for an event in Roanoke, and drove through Old Southwest to pass some time. We immediately fell in love with the look and feel of the neighborhood and its proximity to downtown Roanoke. We made the decision to give up country living, and purchased our home on Albemarle Avenue. We saw the OSW meeting signs and attended one of the monthly community meetings to get to know our neighbors. From that small beginning, it was easy to enthusiastically become involved with OSW, its people, social events, and projects that both create and preserve a high-quality, city-living experience. Sadly, Julie passed away in April 2021, but she loved everything about OSW and made a special place here in Roanoke that I still call home. Currently, I am the Director of Finance and Administration at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport.
