Old Southwest Inc. invites you to come out Thursday, November 19th 2009, 7:00 at the Highland Park Elementary School for our annual Board of Directors (BOD) elections in addition to our regular neighborhood meeting. This meeting is sure to be packed with information for residents and friends of OSW. First order of business will be to elect nominees to the 2010 Board. Following this, Old Southwest Inc. will be sharing with its members the many accomplishments we as an organization have achieved in 2009 and setting priorities for the upcoming year. Be sure to mark your calendars for this annual meeting!

Prior to our monthly meetings, we hold a safety discussion which begins at 6:30pm, and this month's meeting will be held at the Highland Park Elementary School ( 5th Street ). At this meeting feel free to share any concerns or eye-witness accounts of suspicious activity in the neighborhood or in and around your home or business. Police officers and our neighborhood resource officer are typically available at these meetings to gather information from the group and share any info they have pertaining to issues and concerns.

Please come out Thursday October 15, 2009 at 7:00pm for the monthly Old Southwest Neighborhood Meeting at the Alexander Gish House (backside of Highland Park)… This month’s guest speaker is Marla Robertson who works for the City of Roanoke in Lead-Safe Roanoke II Education and Outreach Department of Planning, Building and Development… Marla will be sharing information with Old Southwest about the Lead-Safe program currently underway which strives to prevent lead poisoning in children under the age of 6 years by increasing ones understanding of the hazards associated with lead-based paint, and helping property owners eliminate lead-based paint hazards in their homes and/or rental properties. Due to the age of our housing stock here in Old Southwest this is a very important discussion to be heard. Please make time to come out and hear about this important topic…
